Our Wines

Quality wine begins in the vineyard.  The quality of our wines is different simply because our grapes are grown in a different region of the state of Nebraska. The Sandhills provide an excellent environment to grow high quality grapes and the French American hybrid grapes adapt well.  Our grapes grow in sandy soils, a different climate and different elevation. The sandy soils provide excellent drainage. The semi-arid climate provides a growing environment with low humidity, hot summers days, cool nights, plenty of wind and very cold winters that contributes to applying less herbicide, insecticide and fungicide.  The elevation of the vineyards is 3300 feet and the vineyard is placed on a south facing slope with air flow to the Niobrara River.

Our Nebraska grown grapes make Nebraska wines with excellent body and an explosion of flavors that are amplified by the harsh environment our grapes live in, making them hardy just like the people who live in the Sandhills. Currently we have 2350 vines and ten varieties of grapes that make up the unique blends of flavors that are in the Niobrara Valley Vineyards wines.
